How can I develop my resiliency to grow, learn and contribute to a community?
This morning we drew haunted houses on big pieces of paper and we looked at everyones by doing a gallery walk.
We added onto our circle art by covering the lines with colored sharpies and they are starting to look really cool! We will be investigating how the buffalo impacted the way of life of life for First Nations. To do this we will be building a life size buffalo!!! Tonight think about how big you think a buffalo is? What we learned about him:
First we started by drawing lines and shapes! Next we will talk about using color! TOMORROW IS HALLOWEEN! Reminder: Tomorrow students are allowed to wear costumes but no masks or weapons please! We talked about what we did one minute ago, an hour ago, a day ago, a week ago, a month ago and a year ago. This was to test our memory!
First we talked and shared our ideas. Than we wrote our ideas on lined paper. We learned a new writing strategy it is: Guess the word. Underline. Move on. Once we were finished we glued it into our visual journal with a picture of a clock. After writing we made some goals when writing of things we can improve such as: staying quiet and focused, to practice spelling and using finger spaces to organize our writing. REMINDER: Tomorrow students are allowed to wear Orange and Black to school. No costumes. Thanks! :)
Acts of Kindness that we want to celebrate today! - "Two of my friends helped me today when I was hurt." - "We had a problem at lunch recess but we were able to talk it out and solve the problem all on our own!" Mystery Artist Update: We looked at more artwork from the mystery artist. We noticed that all of the paintings had lines around them. It looks like a broken puzzle. We noticed that the artists art changed over time and was different. The artist used both squares and circles to create his art. We still do not know who the artist is and we will continue our investigation next week! This morning we created our own emojis as a way to express our feelings in connection to the work we have been doing on Zones of Regulation. First we traced 4 circles using cups and than we drew in the features of different faces. Our next step will be to color them. We have been doing different things during our afternoon Daily 5 time like:
We have a new mystery this week..... it is a mystery artist!
We looked at some of their art but we don't know who they are yet. Our goal is to look at their different artwork, talk about it such as how it makes us feel and look for clues to find out who this person is! Some of things we noticed about their art: - It looks like a birthday cake dipped in rainbow icing. - In the first picture I think there was a boat in it. -Might be a small area of the city of Calgary?? Couple of housekeeping items this week:
-Mrs.Chilton
We explored different centers to discover more clues about the past and about first nations people. Some of the things we have learned so far are:
We made paper airplanes in Math because tomorrow we want to test them and see how far they can fly. The first step we did was to create a design for our airplane. Second step was we watched a video to show us the steps. We will be measuring how far they go using non standard measurement which we will figure out what unit tomorrow. Feelings we went through were:
