How can I develop my resiliency to grow, learn and contribute to a community?
Today as a whole school we celebrated Pink Shirt Day. Some of the students knew what the day meant because they participated in it last year. We watched a video that explained the story of where and why Pink shirt day originated. Can check out the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjmf3I1_ZhU We talked about what bullying means and ways we could help stop bullying in our school community. The boys than did a great job showing that on pink shirts that will be displayed for the whole school to see. Art We had a special guest who is Ryder one of our Ed Assistants come and teach the boys how to do art with charcoal. She is an art teacher when she is not at school with our boys and was sharing her expertise as a real life artist! She started by showing the boys how to different shades of lines by either pressing hard or lightly, than we practiced rubbing the charcoal on the side. Once boys were comfortable with the feel of it we started to draw trees which reflects our resiliency theme. We started with the roots and the trunk. Next time we will begin to add the leaves and shading to bring our art to life. These pieces will be displayed on the Story Telling night! Comments are closed.
