How can I develop my resiliency to grow, learn and contribute to a community?
This afternoon we met Anshul Fernando who has been collecting and studying bugs since he was a kid. He has lived in Australia, Sri Lanka and many other places but now he resides in Calgary going around to schools teaching kids about his bugs! He has almost half a million bugs in his collection. Today he brought 2 scorpions to show the boys which he has been trained specifically to handle safely and told the boys to not try it on their own! He also showed us what the scorpion looks like under black light because that's how he find them at night because they are nocturnal! Today we learned alot about the difference between Arachnids, Insects and Anthropods. Anshul shared facts with the boys through story telling and answering alot of great questions the boys had. He also prompted them with questions to get them thinking about all the differences such as how is a butterfly different than a moth? If you want to check out more of Anshul's work here is a link to his youtube channel: *disclaimer parents there is a video of a tarantula eating a mouse which is the only video he said might not be appropriate for kids otherwise his videos are very kid friendly! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIM55gY_PBzg87GuyYnBKow Comments are closed.
